What Are Tuning Forks Therapies? Sound Healing Explained

Potential customers often ask me what I mean when I say tuning forks therapies, and how they actually work.

This is one of the most interesting topics I could talk about for hours, but here I’ll try to fit it into one informative page that is accessible and understandable for everyone.

To understand tuning forks therapies, it helps to start from the beginning.

Where Tuning Forks Came From

Tuning forks were first invented for music, simply for tuning musical instruments. That was the very first use of tuning forks.

At that time, usually one frequency was chosen as a base frequency note — such as 440 Hz, 436 Hz, or 432 Hz — depending on the time period and musical system. All instruments were tuned based on that one main note.

Later, tuning forks started to become useful in medical systems as well. Believe it or not, tuning forks were used — and in some cases are still used — by doctors.

Tuning Forks in Medical Systems

Before we had modern scanners and X-rays, doctors used tuning forks to help find broken bones.

When a bone is broken, tuning forks create a slightly different sound and vibration. By placing tuning forks on different parts of the body, doctors could identify whether a bone was broken and locate the area of the fracture.

Tuning forks were also used to test the nervous system and hearing, including how sound travels through the ears and nerves. Even today, tuning forks are still part of certain medical examinations.

Tuning forks have been used in medical systems for a very long time — long before they became part of holistic healing modalities.

Are Tuning Forks Therapies Just “Woo-Woo”?

Some people think tuning forks therapies are based only on intuition or energy. And yes, intuition is part of the work — you need to be able to connect, listen, and feel how sound moves through the body.

However, there is also a strong scientific basis for how tuning forks therapies work and why they are effective.

As you may have heard before, Albert Einstein said that everything in the universe vibrates. This includes our bodies.

Every single part of the body vibrates at a certain frequency.

When the body is healthy, it vibrates at what we can call a healthy frequency. When something is not working well, that vibration becomes distorted — similar to a musical instrument that is out of tune.

When an instrument is out of tune, it doesn’t sound right. The same thing happens with our organs, tissues, and muscles.

How Tuning Forks Therapies Work

Tuning forks therapies work through the principle of resonance.

When tuning forks vibrating at a specific frequency are brought close to the body or placed on certain areas, the organs or tissues that are meant to vibrate at that frequency begin to respond.

The body recognizes the correct frequency and starts to remember how it is supposed to function.

As this happens, the body begins to bring itself back into balance. The brain receives new information, the nervous system relaxes, and the body starts operating more efficiently again.

Healing begins because the body remembers its natural rhythm.

Earth Frequency and the Human Body

Another important part of tuning forks therapies is our connection to Mother Earth.

The Earth has its own vibration. When we are disconnected from that vibration, we often experience aches, pains, and tension.

Some tuning forks are calibrated to frequencies related to the Earth’s vibration (often multiplied into audible ranges). When these tuning forks are placed on the body, the body recognizes the vibration as familiar and safe.

The nervous system relaxes, and the body begins to regulate itself.

Chakras, Meridians, and Sound

Through my own research and experience, I discovered something fascinating about how sound connects to the body.

  • We have 7 main chakras and 7 main musical notes

  • We have 12 primary meridians, and music has 12 notes

  • The spine has 24 movable vertebrae, which equals 12 notes plus their higher octave

The spine itself looks like a standing wave, like a wave of melody moving through the body.

Each meridian vibrates at a specific frequency. This is exactly what I use in tuning forks therapies.

I work with tuning forks, each one tuned to specific points and pathways to help move energy through the body and restore balance.

Chakra Centers and Healing

Chakra centers are places where we take in life force energy from the outside world.

If a chakra is not spinning properly, energy flow is reduced. Over time, this can affect physical health, emotions, and overall vitality.

Through resonance, tuning forks help bring chakra centers back into motion. When they begin resonating at the correct frequency, energy starts flowing again — and the body begins healing itself naturally.

This is my passion. I absolutely love this work.

I have witnessed people healing from conditions they carried for many years — situations where traditional methods did not bring relief.

Seeing these changes is why I continue to offer tuning forks therapies and why I talk about them openly.

This work is not magic. It is vibration, resonance, and the body’s natural intelligence working together.

And once the body remembers its rhythm, healing becomes possible.

For those who feel called to go deeper, I offer a Healing Journey Package — an intentional series of 8 sessions combining tuning forks therapies and Reiki to support deep, lasting balance and healing.

Working with sound, frequency, and Reiki energy over time allows the body and nervous system to gradually unwind, reset, and remember their natural state. This journey gives us space to work layer by layer — supporting your physical body, energetic centers, and emotional wellbeing in a gentle and grounded way.
